Captain America: The Winter Soldier -
okay so number one had to be Captain America The Winter Soldier. there is tons of reasons this film will smash the box office but the main one being it's a Marvel super hero film, tagging on from The Avengers. how can you not be psyched for this film? both trailers that have been released for this just look incredible and the cast is superb. i'm so pumped that Anthony Mackie is Falcon as well, he's a great actor with a lot of promise and hasn't given a bad performance yet. watching an interview he did for AMC he said his relationship with Chris Evans (Cpt. America) shows through the performances and that is some great casting. they needed that Falcon character to work well with Captain America otherwise the film would suck dick. being a HUGE comic book fan i hate to admit it but i really didn't like Thor The Dark World at all. it came across as lazy, not well thought out and just a cruise which i hated because i love Thor and Chris Hemsworth. so for Marvel i think they need to knock this film out the ball park. as long as they focus most the film on Captain Americas relationship with The Winter Soldier and add the action which it looks like they have done then i can't see any reason why this film won't do very well.
the only 1 concern i have is maybe they might actually bring The Winter Soldier in to the film like halfway through and concentrate more on Captain America trying to focus on some bullshit politics.
The pieces are there Marvel, you've served it up well. DO NOT DISAPPOINT US!
The Purge 2: Anarchy -
right, so first of all i need to admit i haven't yet watched Purge 1 and on a side not for anyone that knows me i don't care for horrors that much. but horrors with good story's behind them i enjoy. when i saw the trailer for number 1 i was interested but never got around to it and tbh we could have a repeat performance here. the trailer has me hooked, that first bit when the car breaks down and the girl puts it out there that it's the night of the purge. and then all the way through the trailer the whole thing just looks like a really well put together film, not stupid like most horrors. the casting throws me off a tiny bit though, the only real known face is Frank Grillo from Warrior and the upcoming Captain America movie and he isn't even in the trailer that much.
We'll see how it goes
The Amazing Spider-man 2 -
this list isn't based on how much anticipation i have for the movies because this one would be at the very top of the list. i predict this will be the biggest comic book film of 2014. yeah okay i know there's Captain America, Guardians etc. but this will be the biggest by far. you've got so much going on, Rhyno, Electro, Green Goblin, Peters relationship with Gwen Stacey, the backside story of the sinister 6 and EVERYTHING ELSE! even the casting is 5-star. Dane Dehaan as Green Goblin looks like a brilliant choice! Jamie Foxx as Electro at first i was unsure but after the trailers i'm beyond on board with that decision. Paul Giamatti as Rhyno... right now this is where i start to doubt this film. Now when i first heard there was going to be 3 enemies against spider-man i was buzzed. then when i heard what actors where playing who i could not wait, but then i sat back and thought, shit. i personally love Paul Giamatti, everything i've seen him in he is amazing and he's playing Rhyno another one of my favourite characters from comic books so i should be over the moon, but the character is going to get such small screen time and is going to be made to look like a bitch next to green goblin and electro. the film itself will blow me away and i still can't wait but the fact they've got Paul Giamatti a Hollywood A-lister, playing Rhyno a character that is never going to get screen time over Electro and Green Goblin i think personally is a waste of talent. but i'm not going to let that shadow the fact that this film looks amazing. But the one thing i cannot wait for and the ironic thing is it'll be the very last scene (post credits) will be the scene that brings the light on the sinister six, BY FAR the greatest team of super villains in comic book history. so Sony are sending a statement to Warner Bros that they might have some of the biggest comic book movies at the moment but Sony are ready to come out fighting and in my personal opinion/choice i choose to see all 6 members of sinister six over The Avengers any day.
So Sony & Marvel i take my hat off and thank you for this movie and also the direction you're taking the franchise, Spider-man the movies need this step forward.
The Guardians of The Galaxy -
alright so first of all let me get this out.. OMFG GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY THE MOVIE FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK!!!!!! okay now that's out the way let's talk. this film has the potential to be a money making cash cow for Marvel, yeah alright they're not the most known group of heroes but they have members like Iron Man in the ranks. in fact i was fucking pissed that in Iron Man 3 they didn't lead him into this film. i don't give a sweet dick if he's in The Avengers already he'd be perfect for the first Guardians movie. but anyway the film it self will be un-real. imagine The Avengers crossed with Star Wars, mate! the trailer itself looks like they've taken it a bit more comical then your typical straight serious action comic book hero film which might work well. especially with Justice League coming in the next 4 years Marvel need this franchise to work off The Avengers, maybe even WITH the avengers (we can all dream). the casting is a bit weird but great at the same time. Chris Pratt an actor who has been round for a few years and in the last 2-3 years has just blown up and now landing Starlord the main role is such a big jump for him. Also seeing Dave Batista from WWE, Bradley Cooper as the voice of Rocket Racoon, Vin Diesel as Groot and other top list actors. come on it's a Marvel film, they weren't going to half ass it were they.
but in all honesty i've been waiting for this movie for a good year and half now, i'll be in the front row the first day it comes out believe that.
Hercules & Hercules the Thraician Wars -
i don't know why both these studios have decided to make these two films against one another but it's great for us the fans. Kellan Lutz is another up and coming actor and he's amazing. we all know Dwayne Johnson and he's already proven himself. so both these films are already going to be big hits just down to the casting. at the moment i'm favoring Kellan's Hercules going off the trailers just for the fact of more action and difference. plus i'm a really big greek mythology geek as well. i don't think i've ever heard of Hercules being a barbarian. Dwayne's Hercules looks more like Conan. but saying that it will be interesting to compare them both.
they both stand to be great films and both have strong trailers, it's going to be close.
anyway that's the end of the list guys. i was going to write more but i need to do some stuff. if i get a good reaction from this blog i'll write another with more films and try and stay away from the comic books best i can ;)
